We all know a program can make its mark in a big way by beating ranked teams.
Since 2015, one team stands above all in this category. And that program might surprise you.
Thanks to Paul Finebaum’s Twitter account, we learned on Monday that Houston boasts the best record against teams ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 since 2015, with a minimum of five games against ranked opponents necessary for consideration. The Cougars are 6-0 against ranked teams. Following Houston are Clemson (9-1), Alabama (17-2), Stanford (5-1) and Oklahoma (10-3).

It’s interesting to see those figures. Of course, the argument can be made that Clemson, Alabama, Stanford and Oklahoma had harder roads to reach those impressive records, given their conference competition. But what Houston accomplished in recent years, with its run under current Texas coach Tom Herman, is impressive.
It will be fun to see how these numbers change as the season moves on.
