TCU has made some adjustments to its depth chart before the Big 12 Championship Game against Oklahoma.
TCU coach Gary Patterson doesn’t make changes to his depth chart on a weekly basis. He usually updates it only two or three times total once the season starts.
The most significant changes to this edition come on offense, with Kyle Hicks now the lone starter at running back. Meanwhile, slot receiver Shaun Nixon is no longer listed on the depth chart. On defense, Ty Summers is once again listed as the starter at middle linebacker.
Here’s a guide to the changes before the conference title game, but keep in mind that Patterson’s depth chart is notoriously fluid.
TCU Depth Chart – Offense
Nixon has been listed as a starter at ‘Y’ receiver for most of the season. However, he’s not on the depth chart this week. Nixon hasn’t played in either of TCU’s past two games, but Patterson hasn’t publicly commented on an injury to the junior.
Hicks has been listed as a co-starter at running back with sophomores Darius Anderson and Sewo Olonilua all season. Now that Anderson is out for the year due to injury, Patterson removed the “OR” from the depth chart.
Patterson had been critical of Olonilua’s performance since Anderson suffered his injury, which may be part of why the sophomore is no longer listed as a co-starter.
Patterson on Anderson injury: 'Big loss. Who's the next guy? If you were complaining not enough carries, guess what. Now it's your turn, and you didn't look that good. Somebody better step up.'

However, Patterson was more complimentary of Olonilua after he led the team in rushing against Baylor on Black Friday.
“Sewo ran the ball better today,” Patterson said, according to the Star-Telegram’s Carlos Mendez. “It was the first game he ran the ball the way a big back is supposed to run the ball. He keeps doing that, he’ll keep getting better.”
TCU Depth Chart – Defense
Ty Summers is now listed as the starter at middle linebacker after splitting time between linebacker and defensive end for much of the season. Summers has played more linebacker in recent weeks because of injuries to Montrel Wilson and Travin Howard.
Howard is expected to play this week, according to Patterson. He and Wilson have both missed the past two games due to unspecified injuries. Wilson is now listed as the third man at middle linebacker, behind Summers and Arico Evans.
TCU Depth Chart – Special Teams
No major changes on special teams for TCU this week. Jonathan Song is still listed as a co-starter with Cole Bunce. Song has missed the past three games due to a reported groin injury. Bunce is 3-of-4 on field goals and 9-of-9 on extra points in Song’s absence.
