TCU expects LB Travin Howard, S Niko Small back for Big 12 title game

TCU will probably get back two of its best defenders in time for the Big 12 Championship Game.

Starting linebacker Travin Howard and starting free safety Niko Small are expected back after missing the past two weeks due to injuries, according to coach Gary Patterson. He said that will help make up for the loss of starting weak safety Nick Orr in the first half.

“We’ll get Niko back, it looks like.” Patterson said Monday on the Big 12 coaches teleconference. “We’ll get Travin Howard back, it looks like. So you’re going to get two guys back. Nick [Orr], it is what it is.”

Orr was suspended for the first half against the Sooners for his role in the brawl during the Baylor-TCU game on Black Friday.

TCU and Oklahoma will face off in the conference title game at AT&T STadium in Arlington, Texas on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. CT on FOX.
