Steve Spurrier offers kind words in tweet to retiring friend Bob Stoops of Oklahoma

Bob Stoops-Steve Spurrier-Oklahoma

From one coaching legend to another.

Steve Spurrier knows a thing or two about retiring unexpectedly and suddenly, and he had some kind words on Twitter on Saturday to send off his friend Bob Stoops, who stepped away on June 7 from Oklahoma.

The Head Ball Coach, who employed Stoops as his defensive coordinator at Florida from 1996-98 before moving on to Norman to run his own program in 1999, had this to say about his friend:

Spurrier retired from South Carolina after a 2-4 start in 2015, finishing his college coaching career at 229-89-2 for a .718 winning percentage. Stoops went 190-48 at Oklahoma for a .798 mark.
