Steve Spurrier changes course, gives new choice for coach Tennessee should choose

Just call him Smoke Screen Steve Spurrier.

A few hours after saying Tennessee “ought to hire Tee Martin and that would unite the fan base again,” Steve Spurrier has had a change of heart and/or mind and has decided to roll with a different candidate for the Volunteers head coaching position.

Appearing on the Paul Finebaum Show on Thursday afternoon, Spurrier had a new name in mind:

I don’t know what’s better about this — Spurrier changing his mind from morning to afternoon, or the fact that he refers to Washington State head coach Mike Leach as “the Leacher.”

Either way, it appears that, like the Tennessee administration, Spurrier cannot make up his mind. OR, is he just trying to stir the pot even more?

Also on the show Spurrier told Finebaum that he thinks expansion of the College Football Playoff needs to happen sooner rather than later.

Although, with maybe four of this weekend’s five conference championship games possibly functioning as play-in games to the playoff, the current four team format is breeding big-time competition in 2017, something that a move to eight teams could lessen.
