One of the state’s top prospects has booked his official visit to LSU.
Lawrence Keys III, a top-10 prospect in Louisiana’s 2018 class, will make his official visit to LSU for the Jan. 12 weekend.
Keys, a 4-star wide receiver from McDonogh 35 (La.) High School in New Orleans, will make his first official stop at Houston this weekend and also head up to Notre Dame on Jan. 18.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Keys is the Tigers’ top slot receiver target in this year’s recruiting class. New Orleans area recruiter and wide receivers coach Mickey Joseph is spearheading his recruitment and helped LSU move out into the lead position as early as April.
LSU currently holds commitments from two wide receivers in the 2018 recruiting class — Jaray Jenkins and Kenan Jones — but is aiming to reel in at least four prospects at the position in this year’s group.
Keys will make the official visit along with his mother, LaTanya Manning, who is playing an integral role in the blue-chip wide receiver’s recruitment. The Tigers remain in a strong position to land a commitment from the in-state target, who expects to make his decision on National Signing Day in February.
