Many are predicting Alabama to have a strong basketball season this year. On Wednesday morning, the Crimson Tide earned a commitment that will help them also do well in the future.
Diante Wood, a 3-star shooting guard, from Anniston, Ala., announced his decision to play for Alabama on Wednesday morning at a ceremony at Sacred Heart Catcholic School, according to Al Muskewitz of East Alabama Sports Today.

Wood is the No. 6 recruit from Alabama in the 2018 class, as well as the No. 57 shooting guard. He is listed at 6-foot-4, 175 pounds.
Wood picked Alabama over Auburn, USF and Iowa State — the other three teams he had strong interest in. He also held an offer from Arkansas, among others.
Alabama’s 2018 class currently ranks No. 45 in the nation, according to 247sports. Wood is the third commit in the class, joining fellow 3-star Javian Flemming (center) and 4-star Jared Butler (point guard).
The Crimson Tide weren’t ranked in the preseason AP Top 25 poll, but they were the first team left out. They open the 2017-18 season on Friday when they play Memphis at Navy Alumni Hall in Annapolis, Md. The game tips off at 6:30 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.
