LSU will finally get Devonta Jason on campus.
Jason, a 4-star wide receiver and longtime Kansas commitment, was at one point a member of the Tigers’ 2018 recruiting class. The one-time LSU pledge will return to campus on Saturday for an unofficial visit, he told SEC Country.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound wideout will watch the Tigers’ closed scrimmage, their fourth in August as they make their final preparations for the season opener against BYU in Houston on Sept. 2.
Jason made a quick pit stop in Baton Rouge in June for the elite high school camp. He did not participate in the camp then, but spent time with coach Ed Orgeron, area recruiter Mickey Joseph and GM Austin Thomas before having a private meeting with multiple members of the Tigers’ coaching staff.
Despite his commitment to Kansas, Jason remains a priority for LSU in 2018 as it attempts to bolster its depth at the wide receiver position in Matt Canada ‘s new-look offense. The Tigers — along with Mississippi State and Ole Miss — are the teams pushing to flip Jason off his pledge to the Jayhawks.
Jason is an early enrollee and is set to finalize his college plans in December before enrolling at his university of choice.
