COLUMBIA, S.C. — Four-star linebacker Channing Tindall, one of the top South Carolina recruiting targets in the Class of 2018, was presented with his U.S. Army All-American Bowl jersey on Thursday.
After receiving the jersey during a ceremony at Spring Valley High School, he updated reporters on the latest with his recruitment.
“The three main colleges I’m looking at are South Carolina, Georgia and Florida,” Tindall said. “I can tell you that I’m going to make my decision by the end of the year, but nothing more than that.”
Two others remain on the periphery: Auburn and Clemson. This weekend, he’ll visit one or the other. A decision on which one, he added, will be reached before the end of the day Thursday.
“I’m really just going to Clemson just to see what they have to offer, but those are the three schools that are mainly looking at me,” he said.
Tindall was in Athens last weekend for the the SEC East showdown between South Carolina and Georgia, the two schools widely-believed to be his top two.
“It was a crazy game,” he said of South Carolina-Georgia. “Off my edge of the seat, half the time I was there. I was very excited I got to see that.
“I felt like South Carolina played hard. Georgia, I felt like they had a better scheme and they just came out with the win, stayed undefeated.”
The Gamecocks have hosted him for multiple games this season and he plans to be back for at least one more, either for the Wofford or Clemson game. He also visited Georgia for the Mississippi State game.
