Mississippi State was at the center of a bunch of action throughout the last week.
From an Egg Bowl loss to Ole Miss last Thursday, to Dan Mullen’s departure to Florida three days later, to the announced hiring of Joe Moorhead on Wednesday, it was a whirlwind week for the Bulldogs program.
SEC Country’s Brandon Walker and Andrew Astleford discuss the Mullen departure, where the Bulldogs stand during this period of change, and talk about everything else in the world of Mississippi State football in our latest Zaxby’s Sound Off.
(Note: The video was filmed before the announced hiring of Moorhead.)
Other topics include:
- Brandon and Andrew discuss Mullen’s departure and if it caught them by surprise. They said the move provided pause, given how Mullen had said he was happy in Starkville and turned down jobs elsewhere. They also spoke about names involved with the Bulldogs’ coaching search.
- Brandon and Andrew touch on Mississippi State’s performance against Ole Miss. They spoke about Nick Fitzgerald’s gruesome injury in the loss to the Rebels. Brandon said he was surprised the Bulldogs were unable to earn an Egg Bowl victory against a struggling Rebels program.
- Brandon gives his thoughts on the legacy of this Mississippi State season. He said it was successful, but it ended on a sour note with the loss to Ole Miss and the injury to Fitzgerald. Still, Brandon is optimistic about the potential for Mississippi State’s 2018 campaign, when many key parts for the Bulldogs return.
