Clemson (8-1) passed perhaps its toughest remaining regular season test last Saturday in Raleigh, N.C., claiming a Textile Bowl win over fellow ACC founding member North Carolina State and getting closer to playing for yet another league championship.
Once again, the Tigers and Wolfpack played a game that came down to the wire, and it was no surprise that the battle-tested defending national champions came out on top with a 38-31 win by making enough big plays in all three phases.
One week after he had his first-career 2-touchdown passing game, first-year starting quarterback Kelly Bryant overcame a slow start through the air and put together another strong game on the ground. His legs were a big difference as he finished with 88 yards and 2 scores on 20 rushes.
Next up for Dabo Swinney’s squad is a clash with Florida State on Saturday afternoon in what was supposed to be the game of the year in the ACC before Jimbo Fisher’s team imploded. However, FSU still boasts a defense that is capable of rising to the occasion and giving the Clemson offense some fits.
