Stephen Davis Jr., the son of former Auburn star Stephen Davis, is no longer on South Carolina’s roster according to The State reporter Ben Breiner.
The news was confirmed by a South Carolina spokesperson.
Davis Jr. was a late pickup for the Gamecocks as he walked on after departing from Auburn after one season. The 6-foot-3, 206-pound Davis Jr. participated with South Carolina’s running backs during his three weeks with the team.
Davis Jr. played safety and running back in high school at Dutch Fork.
Stephen Davis was a three-time Pro Bowl running back and led the NFL in rushing touchdowns in 1999.
