Fran McCaffery and the Iowa basketball squad are lucky. They’ll draw a crowd of Hawkeye fans no matter where they go.
This was even the case as the Hawkeyes beat the German All-Stars in a 99-65 drubbing in the first game of Iowa’s European tour. Some Iowa fans who just happened to be traveling in Germany at the time, and others who live there, stopped by to watch the Hawkeyes on the hardwood floor.

Iowa fans that made it out were treated to a fun game to watch, as four Hawkeyes made it into double figures in the rout of the German All-Stars.
While the Hawkeyes fans that were there didn’t number enough to fill Kinnick Stadium, it was more than what you’d expect to see from a fan base watching their favorite team tip off.
For reference, Iowa City is 4506 miles from Heidelberg, Germany.
The Hawkeyes will travel to Baden, Switzerland, next in the second of four stops during their European Tour to take on the Swiss All-Stars.
