6 SEC players named to Pro Football Focus’ preseason All-American teams

On Tuesday, AP released its preseason All-American teams. A day later, Pro Football Focus released its own version — with slightly more SEC representation.

The two publications differed in the SEC players selected, as Pro Football Focus’ six conference players on first team were one more than AP had. Here are the SEC players that PFF selected for preseason first team:

  • Derrius Guice, LSU running back
  • Calvin Ridley, Alabama wide receiver
  • Frank Ragnow, Arkansas center
  • Arden Key, LSU defensive end
  • Rashaan Evans, Alabama linebacker
  • Minkah Fitzpatrick, Alabama cornerback

While the Crimson Tide only had one player (Fitzpatrick) on AP’s preseason first team, PFF included three players from the preseason No. 1 team. Ragnow also did not appear on AP’s first team.

LSU had the same two players on both publications’ first teams in Guice and Key.
