Jordan Rodgers is bullish on Ole Miss quarterback Shea Patterson.
Speaking on the SEC Network, the analyst gave his take on Patterson and why the Rebels can be successful with the young signal-caller. It’s easy to find pundits who are down on the Rebels after the program’s recent off-the-field trouble. But Rodgers goes in a different direction with his thoughts, and he provides an interesting take.
“Got a chance to be around him this summer at the Manning Passing Academy,” Rodgers said on the show. “Unbelievable kid. Mature way beyond his years. His ability to lead that locker room is why they’re going to be successful.”
If Ole Miss is going to win in the post-Hugh Freeze era, Patterson must lead the way. There’s still so much to learn about him. He threw for 880 yards with 6 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in three games last year in his first season with the Rebels.
Yes, there are many unknowns with Patterson. But Rodgers is right. The young player has shown promise in the small glimpses we have received from him. It will be on him to show more soon.
