As the season approaches, it’s become increasingly clear that sky-high expectations are following Nick Fitzgerald. The same can’t be said about Mississippi State.
Just in the past week, stories have surfaced about NFL scouts viewing the junior as the SEC’s best quarterback, and SEC Network analyst Chris Doering even believes Fitzgerald might wind up in New York for the Heisman Trophy presentation at the end of this season.
One of Doering’s co-workers at SEC Network, anchor Dari Nowkhah, falls right in line with those feelings about Fitzgerald. However, he thinks the rest of the Bulldogs’ offense will be burden on the redshirt junior.
Nowkhah: I think Nick Fitzgerald is the most talented QB in the league, I just think he has the least to work with.

Last season, Fitzgerald threw for 2,423 yards and ran for 1,375 yards. The only other player from a Power 5 conference to throw for 2,000 and rush for 1,000 was Heisman winner Lamar Jackson.
