Saquon Barkley went from 9th to 3rd in these Heisman odds after Week 1

Saquon Barkley’s getting a significant amount of Heisman Trophy hype after his performance in Penn State’s Week 1 win over Akron.

Sports Illustrated’s Bruce Feldman had him on top of his Heisman candidates list on Sunday morning, and he has better odds at Westgate Superbook following a 172-yard performance on 14 carries against Akron.

Westgate had Barkley at 20/1 odds to win the Heisman prior to Week 1. That was ninth among candidates, behind USC QB Sam Darnold (5/1), Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield (7/1), Louisville QB Lamar Jackson (10/1), Ohio State QB J.T. Barrett (10/1), Washington QB Jake Browning (12/1), Florida State QB Deondre Francois (12/1), Oklahoma State QB Mason Rudolph (15/1) and UCLA QB Josh Rosen (15/1) were all ranked ahead of him.

Now, Barkley only trails Jackson and Darnold, and has 8/1 odds to win the award.
