TCU’s freshman defensive tackle Ross Blacklock has been named the Big 12’s Co-Defensive Freshman of the Year.

Blacklock was part of a defense that fueled TCU’s run to another 10 win season. The Horned Frogs have their first chance to add to that win total Saturday, when they take on the Oklahoma Sooners in the Big 12 Championship. For now, though, Blacklock and the Horned Frog faithful can enjoy the dearth of conference award winners they have.
If TCU is going to pressure Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, they’ll need Blacklock to step up to the plate. It can’t just be Banogu and Boesen making sacks, the Horned Frogs need Blacklock to play up to his award. If they can get some good defensive line pressure, there’s no reason why they can’t compete with the mighty Sooners offense.
