Last week, Jim Harbaugh was named the most “overrated” coach in college football in a poll of anonymous head coaches from across the country.
The poll, conducted by CBS Sports, featured only one-fifth (26) college coaches and just 13 percent of them voted for Harbaugh. Still, he got more votes than any other coach.
Friday, Harbaugh found a voice of support from a somewhat unlikely source.
Rick Neuheisel, the former UCLA coach who is now a college football analyst, had some spats with Harbaugh when they went head-to-head each year when Harbaugh was at Stanford. But Neuheisel does not think the Michigan coach deserves the title of “overrated.”
“We talk about college football royalty being at their best is good for college football, Jim Harbaugh is fantastic for college football,” Neuheisel said on Sirius XM’s Full Ride, according to 247Sports. “And here’s why coaches vote like that — because they’re tired of having him in the headline. It’s jealousy. It’s 100 percent jealousy, because he’s thinking outside of the box, they don’t like it, they want to change it, they think it’s ridiculous.”
We’re sure Michigan fans will agree.
