REPORT: UCLA freshman LiAngelo Ball arrested for shoplifting during Bruins China trip

According to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman, 3 UCLA players including freshman LiAngelo Ball were arrested for shoplifting in China.

Goodman followed up by reporting that Ball, freshman PF Cody Riley and freshman F Jalen Hill were arrested on Tuesday.

Local police in Hangzhou, China were called to the team hotel for both the UCLA Bruins and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Tuesday morning, according to a report by the  The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

According to the report, 3 Georgia Tech basketball players were questioned and cleared, according to a statement from the school.

“During the questioning, it was determined that Georgia Tech student-athletes were not involved in the activities being investigated,” Georgia Tech said in a statement. “They will rejoin the team on Tuesday and resume their scheduled activities in advance of Saturday’s season opener vs. UCLA in Shanghai.”

Prior to Goodman’s story on ESPN, UCLA released this statement:

“We are aware of the matter involving UCLA student-athletes and we are gathering more information,” UCLA team spokesman Alex Timiraos said in a statement, per  The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
