Report: Texas A&M to offer Jimbo Fisher 10-year contract

While nothing is official yet, the signs seem to be pointing to Jimbo Fisher departing Florida State and taking the Texas A&M coaching job vacated by the firing of Kevin Sumlin on Sunday.

Reports on Thursday stated that FSU officials expect Fisher to leave – that according to the AP – and that Texas A&M’s board of trustees has an informal agreement on a contract they would offer Fisher, per

But how long would a potential contract be, and what is the money involved? It looks like the first part of that question has been answered.

Think about that: ten years. It’s rare to see an initial contract of such length being put on the table. Normally a school would offer a four- or five-year deal and then extend it several more years a couple of seasons later, depending on performance.

One thing is certain: Texas A&M has pulled out all the stops to lure Fisher away from Tallahassee, If the reports that have circulated on Thursday are true, it may not be a matter of if Jimbo Fisher leaves, but a matter of when.
