Ole Miss reportedly has received its NCAA ruling on Friday morning, and some details are coming out on what the Rebels’ punishment could be.
SB Nation’s Steve Godfrey and Ole Miss Spirit’s Chuck Rounsaville have shared what their sources are saying Ole Miss will receive as a part of a long investigation into the conduct of the Rebels program under the direction of former coach Hugh Freeze.
Per Godfrey’s source, the penalties should look something like this:
an additional bowl-ban year (2018)
probation running concurrently with current probation for a total of four years financial penalties
a 13-scholarship reduction for three years
and every coach named in the NCAA’s investigation has received a show-cause (essentially an NCAA blackball for a period of time).
That looks similar to what Rounsaville’s source is telling the Ole Miss Spirit:
Our source says 2 year bowl ban, 4 years probation, 13 schollies and $179k penalty. Trying to get second confirmation.
