While Matt Luke will lead the way for the Rebels in 2018, his other coaches will be sitting pretty with their wallets full as well.
The salary pool for assistant coaches will increase to $5,135,500 in 2018 according to Dave Potter of the Oxford Eagle.
Ole Miss’ salary pool for assistants was $4.3 million in 2016 and jumped by nearly $400,000 this season with then-head coach Hugh Freeze bringing in five new assistants before his abrupt resignation in the summer. The push past $5 million would’ve ranked in the top 5 nationally heading into this season, according to USA Today’s assistant coaches salary database.
Luke is in an interesting position as he chance to retain the staff he has worked with for the past year or bring in new faces. No doubt he’s already thinking about it. As Potter points out, he’ll be able to add a name next season to his assistants.
He’s already thinking it will be on defense according to Potter.
