Report: LSU OC Matt Canada seeking interview for school’s head coaching job

Could LSU offensive coordinator Matt Canada’s time in Baton Rouge already be coming to an end? One report is hinting that he’s interested in one particular opening right now.

Canada, who was hired by the school in December 2016, guided the Tigers to their best offensive performance of the season in a 45-21 win over Texas A&M last Saturday. LSU racked up a season-high 601 total yards and 351 passing yards, the most for the school since 2013.

On Tuesday afternoon, a report from Football Scoop mentioned a few names that seem to be in consideration to become Rice’s next head coach before touching on Canada.

“We are also told LSU offensive coordinator Matt Canada is seeking an interview.”

The report doesn’t expand on that short bit of information, but it did get the attention of former LSU standout and ESPN college football analyst Booger McFarland.
