It now seems it’s no longer a matter of if Jimbo Fisher is going to leave Florida State to become the next coach at Texas A&M, but when.
Brent Zwerneman of the Houston Chronicle reported Friday that the move could come as soon as Friday but no later than Sunday.
According to Zwerneman, the only thing delaying the move is Fisher’s desire to coach the Seminoles’ final regular season game, against Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday. When asked by reporters, Fisher has repeatedly declined to discuss the possible move and reiterated that he plans to coach the game.
Reports emerged Thursday that the deal the Aggies have offered Fisher is for 10 years and roughly $7.5 million per year. Fisher made $5.7 million this season at Florida State.
Fisher has not had a losing season as coach of the Seminoles, and Zwerneman reported that he is intent on advancing to 6-6 with a win Saturday to keep that streak, and the Seminoles’ 35-year bowl game streak, alive.
