According to a report from FootballScoop.com, Tennessee has a backup plan in place if Purdue’s Jeff Brohm isn’t willing to jump on board.
That backup plan is North Carolina State’s Dave Doeren. Doeren has the Wolfpack playing well and led them to an 8-4 regular season in 2017.
Doeren is reportedly at odds with the North Carolina State athletic department and has been working to create an exit strategy this week. The Vols could be a perfect match.
FootballScoop’s report is being backed up by a North Carolina State insider:
Per sources, Dave Doeren is meeting with Tennessee officials today about the head coaching position.
