Former Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach may be making his way back down south from Washington State.
According to a report from Newy Scruggs at NBC DFW, Leach is in talks with the Tennessee Volunteers to take over their head coaching vacancy.
Sources tell @NBCDFWSports that former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach is working on a deal to become the next coach at Tennessee. A deal could be announced Friday. I’m working on more details.

Rumors had been swirling that Leach and Tennessee were in talks all week. The Volunteers have gone through a long and painful coaching search this offseason.
Leach isn’t the only coach with Big 12 ties to draw interest from Tennessee. Mike Gundy, the current Oklahoma State head coach, was heavily linked with the Volunteers before committing to the Cowboys.
At Texas Tech, Leach coached from 2000-2009 before an acrimonious split.
