Report: Former Georgia LB Lorenzo Carter ‘rising up draft boards’

Lorenzo Carter is forever etched into the minds of Georgia fans everywhere. His field goal block set up the Bulldogs’ offense for a chance to win the Rose Bowl.

While he’ll be a part of Georgia lore for decades to come, the linebacker also has his own future to think about. As the NFL draft draws closer, it appears he’s drawing more and more eyes every day.

Last week, it was NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah heaping praise on him. Now it’s an NFL beat writer hearing similar whispers.

Mike Klis covers the Denver Broncos for a TV station in the mile-high city.

It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise given how well Carter performed at the NFL Combine, which included a 10-foot, 10-inch broad jump.He also totaled 62 tackles and 4.5 sacks his senior season.

Add that in with a height of 6-foot-4 plus 250 pounds and he suddenly appears like a NFL freak who could excel as both linebacker or potential edge rusher. Roquan Smith is already a solidified first-round pick, but it appears Carter’s ability to pick up steam could allow two Bulldogs to hear their name called on day one.
