Report: Former Florida coach Jim McElwain on Oregon State’s radar

Florida has its new coach in Dan Mullen. But how about the Gators’ last head coach? Where is Jim McElwain going to end up?

According to John Canzano of The Oregonian, McElwain is on Oregon State’s radar and people in the former Florida coach’s camp have been in contact with Beavers athletic director Scott Barnes. Canzano added that McElwain is interested in Oregon State.

McElwain was the coach at Florida from 2015-17, as he got fired by the Gators before the end of the regular season. He went 22-12 at Florida, which included going 16-8 in SEC play. Prior to that, McElwain was the head coach at Colorado State from 2012-14, where he went 22-16.

McElwain played quarterback at Eastern Washington from 1980-83 and coached there from 1985-94. Barnes was the AD at Eastern Washington from 1999-2005.
