Report: ESPN paying LSU $4 million to play BYU

LSU reportedly is receiving a nice chunk of change to play BYU on Sept. 2 in Houston.

As reported by The Advocate’s Ross Dellenger on Tuesday, ESPN will pay LSU $4 million to participate in the game. Dellenger notes that the lump sum will be paid to the university within 30 days of the event.

The game is labeled the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff. It will be held at NRG Stadium, home of the NFL’s Houston Texans.

ESPN will broadcast the game, and kickoff is set for 9:30 p.m. ET. This is an intriguing matchup. It will be interesting to see if the Tigers can start the Ed Orgeron era in the right way.
