It was reported earlier this month that ESPN planned to lay off more than 100 staffers after Thannksgiving. And now that the holiday is over, that should be coming soon.
However, this round of layoffs at The Worldwide Leader in Sports may be less noticeable to fans than recent cuts made to the network.
According to Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated, the upcoming layoffs at ESPN are expected to affect mostly behind-the-scenes employees and positions in multiple departments. Deitsch reports that not many on-air personalities are expected to be laid off, if any at all.
One update on ESPN layoffs: Hearing the job losses for this round will be concentrated on behind-the-scenes people/positions in multiple depts. Not many front-facing (on-air) names expected, if any. Having been through too many at Time Inc, it all sucks.

This is much different than recent ESPN layoffs, which included top college football analysts/reporters such as Mark May, Danny Kanell and Brett McMurphy, among many others.
