Report: Dan Mullen is now going after his old Mississippi State recruits

Dan Mullen is already hard at work in Gainesville. Meanwhile his new assistants are doing legwork in the area of his old Mississippi State stomping grounds.

Wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales and offensive line coach John Hevesy have already jumped with Mullen. Now the dominoes are beginning to fall with recruiting visits according to Clarion-ledger reporter Annie Costabile.

Former wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales, announced Tuesday as having taken the same position with Dan Mullen at Florida spent the day in Mississippi targeting Callaway wide receiver Malik Heath and Hinds Community College wide receiver Stephen Guidry.

….

offensive line coach John Hevesy has left Mississippi State to take the same position at Florida. He was also in Mississippi, specifically in Greenwood with offensive tackle Kwatrivous Johnson. But Johnson indicated he remains a Bulldog.

It’s a little scary for Mississippi State fans. It’s difficult to recruit against coaches who recruited these same players, just to a different school this time around. The Bulldogs must quickly get someone in place or they could risk losing some names before the early signing period.
