Report: Bryce Thompson will not sign with 2018 South Carolina recruiting class

Chris Clark of Gamecock Central has confirmed that 4-star athlete Bryce Thompson will not sign with the 2018 South Carolina recruiting class.

Thompson, who committed in December, was not expected to sign with the Gamecocks this year. But there’s no change to his status. He’s still committed to South Carolina.

According to the 247Sports composite, Thompson (6-0, 180) is ranked as the No. 12 athlete in the Class of 2018. He’s also ranked fifth among the in-state prospects.

The junior college route could be next, after he graduates from Dutch Fork High School in Irmo, S.C.

Thompson took an official visit to Marshall in the fall. Louisville and Tennessee have been rumored as options, too. However, academics could prevent him from playing at the Power 5 level this season.
