TCU will have the chance to avenge its Nov. 11 loss to Oklahoma on Saturday when the Horned Frogs and Sooners face each other a second time this season in the Big 12 Championship Game.
And history says it will be a coin-flip in determining if TCU can get the job done at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
As noted by the Oklahoman’s Berry Tramel, 56 rematches have been played in the modern era of college football (post-World War II) that didn’t result in a tie. The loser of game one has gone exactly 28-28.
History in the Big 12 title game alone is less friendly to the Horned Frogs. The loser of game one is 2-4 all-time in previous Big 12 title game rematches. Oklahoma is a perfect 3-0 in those instances.
TCU has never played in a Big 12 Championship Game, as the contest was not held from 2011-2016. Oklahoma defeated Nebraska in the most recent game played in 2010.
