DJ Polite-Bray leaves Texas Tech football to focus on academics

Texas Tech’s secondary depth has taken a hit.

DJ Polite-Bray is no longer with the football team. He left to focus on his academics and graduation, according to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Don Williams.

This means that Texas Tech will have even less depth heading into a crucial matchup with Baylor. If Texas Tech beats the Bears, their bowl hopes are still alive. If they don’t, they’ll have to beat TCU and Texas in back to back weeks, a tall order for any team that isn’t at the top of their conference.

If Texas Tech is going to beat the Bears, they’re going to have to be more consistent than they have been in recent weeks. The Red Raiders have been plagued by second half collapses, a theme that’s becoming an integral part of the Kliff Kingsbury story. If the Red Raiders can get an early lead and not totally fall apart in the second half, they should win.
