Penn State runs beautiful hook and ladder to Saquon Barkley

Finally, Saquon Barkley looked like Saquon Barkley again.

Penn State’s star running back has been bottled up for the good part of the last 2.5 games, but Joe Moorhead found a unique way to get Barkley the ball in space against Rutgers. Trace McSorley found DaeSean Hamilton over the middle, and then Hamitlon lateraled the ball to Barkley on a hook and ladder. Barkley took the pitch for a 14-yard gain that ended in a signature hurdle.

In a season full of spectacular Barkley moments, this was one of the smoothest.

Barkley, however, came up just short of the goal line. But two plays later, he got the final yard on a hand off to put Penn State up 21-6 over Rutgers. It was Barkley’s first touchdown since the second quarter of the Ohio State game on Oct. 28.

With the touchdown, Penn State had scored 21 straight points against the Scarlet Knights to go up by 15 points in the 3rd quarter.
