Penn State OC Joe Moorhead has ’emerged’ in Mississippi State’s head coaching search, as reported by USA Today’ Dan Wolken.
Moorhead, who’s 44 years old, has been Penn State’s offensive coordinator for the past two seasons, helping to lead a resurgent offense as the Nittany Lions have posted back-to-back 10-win seasons.

Before coming to Penn State, Moorhead was Furman’s head coach for four seasons. He went 38-13 with the Rams, leading them to three FCS playoff appearances. Fordham went 1-10 in the year before Moorhead’s arrival. The Rams went 6-5 in his first season.
Working with QB Trace McSorley and RB Saquon Barkley, Moorhead helped Penn State average 37.6 points per game and 433 yards per game in 2016 as the Nittany Lions went 11-3 and won the Big Ten title. That was a jump from 23.2 points and 349 yards per game.
This season, Penn State is 10-2. Penn State is averaging 41.6 points and 453.2 yards per game.
