If it were up to Paul Finebaum, the college football national title will come down to two blue blood programs in Alabama and Ohio State.
The SEC commentator and host of The Paul Finebaum Show stated on Thursday that he would like to see the Crimson Tide and Buckeyes face each other in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta for the ultimate prize.
Speaking on ESPN, Finebaum said, “ I look for a huge s eason [for Ohio State]. I think Kevin Wilson is one of the big reasons for that.”
Wilson took over as the Buckeyes offensive coordinator this offseason, with head coach Urban Meyer hoping to catch the same magic on offense that now Texas head coach Tom Herman brought to the scarlet and gray.
“After Tom Herman, I think that program did take a couple of steps backwards offensively,” Finebaum said.
The Crimson Tide and Buckeyes met as recently as the 2014 College Football Playoff, with Ohio State pulling out a 42-35 win on its way to the national title.
A rematch in the title game is not a far reach: the Crimson Tide are ranked No. 1 in both preseason polls while the Buckeyes are right behind at No. 2.
