Paul Finebaum on Alabama-FSU: ‘I still don’t know that many people who believe Florida State can win’

Less than a week away from what could perhaps be the greatest opening game in college football history, SEC Network radio host and analyst Paul Finebaum isn’t hearing much love for the Seminoles in their matchup against the Crimson Tide.

Preseason AP No. 1 Alabama and No. 3 Florida State begin the season in the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Finebaum says aside from FSU fans and Bama haters, no one else seems to be buying into the slight underdogs.

“I still don’t know that many people who believe Florida State can win,” Finebaum said Monday morning on the WJOX FM Opening Drive Podcast.

Well, Paul, there is at lease one person who believes that Florida State can win. His name is John Thrasher, and he’s the president of the university. He said last week he thinks his Seminoles are “ gonna beat Alabama pretty bad next week.”

But Finebaum appears to be on the side of his presumed majority, for one very simple reason.

“When you get right down to it, and even if it’s an even matchup, and I don’t think it’s uneven, Nick Saban is the deciding factor,” he said.
