With Oklahoma State possessing one of college football’s best offense, it makes sense the Cowboys would also draw NFL interest.
In the latest mock draft from CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso, Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph and two of his dynamic receivers were first-round selections. Rudolph and James Washington were in the top 10, while Marcell Ateman landed at No. 24.
In Trapasso’s mock, the New York Giants took Rudolph third overall as the heir to Eli Manning. Rudolph, the nation’s leader in passing yards, has the big arm the Giants seek, Trapasso wrote.
“Rudolph flourishes delivering the football deep,” Trapasso wrote. “Because of his NFL-readiness, the Giants won’t have to wait two or three years to get serious production from their quarterback position.”
Washington went at No. 9 to the Denver Broncos. Trapasso opines Denver will want to add to its talented receiver corps, especially given Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders entering the latter portions of their careers. Washington is second in the FBS in receiving yards and one of only two receivers with more than 30 catches averaging 20 yards a reception.
Trapasso has Ateman going 24th to the Jacksonville Jaguars. At 6-foot-4, Ateman would provide quarterback Blake Bortles a large receiving option, same as he has done for Rudolph. Ateman and Washington are the nation’s leading receiving duo, with nearly 200 more yards than any other pair.
The Oklahoma State trio can all boost their stock during the season’s final stretch. The Cowboys face Iowa State on Saturday in Ames, Iowa.
