Some Oklahoma State are hoping that rumors of Coach Mike Gundy’s dalliance with Tennessee is merely a smokescreen for other candidates.
But a trusted source for Oklahoma State athletics is saying that Gundy’s interest in the vacant Tennessee position appears intense.
Robert Allen, the sideline reporter for Oklahoma State football for more than a decade, broke the story that Gundy was meeting today with Tennessee athletic director John Currie in Dallas.
Allen, who is considered to be one of Gundy’s most trusted confidantes, was blunt for Oklahoma fans in his assessment of the situation.

Allen also reported that Tennessee is willing to double Gundy’s current yearly salary with Oklahoma State to $8.4 million a year.
No matter how toxic some might consider the environment in the Tennessee athletic department, it would be worth Gundy giving careful thought to the job.
