The No. 5 and No. 6-ranked teams in the country will meet at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium on Saturday.
The Big 12 clash between Oklahoma and TCU will serve as a de facto College Football Playoff elimination game, and most of Sports Illustrated college football writers don’t like the Frogs’ chances.
6 of 7 SI writers have the Sooners topping the Frogs on Saturday.
Staff writer Joan Niesen explained her pick of Oklahoma:
“This one won’t be the shootout Bedlam was—TCU has the defense to throw a wrench in the Sooners’ high-flying offense—but Oklahoma and Baker Mayfield will still be able to outscore the Horned Frogs,” Niesen wrote.
Scooby Axson was the lone writer to not pick the Sooners.
Despite the Sooners nearly sweeping Sports Illustrated’s staff picks, Saturday’s showdown should be a competitive matchup between one of the best offenses in the country against one of the country’s best defenses.
Oklahoma and TCU will kick off at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
