Ex-Oklahoma DB Ahmad Thomas signs with Green Bay practice squad

The Green Bay Packers announced former Oklahoma defensive back Ahmad Thomas has signed with the team’s practice squad.

Thomas originally signed with Oakland as an undrafted free agent, but he was cut from the roster in May.

It appears Thomas will switch from defensive back to linebacker with the Packers practice squad. He will wear No. 56, the team announced.

Thomas, a 6-foot, 220-pound rookie, finished his Oklahoma career with 223 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 4 interceptions. The Miami, Florida, native was an All-Big 12 Second Team selection in 2015 and honorable mention All-Big 12 selection in 2016.

He was a team captain his senior season when the Sooners knocked off the Auburn Tigers in the Sugar Bowl and won their second-consecutive Big 12 title.
