Ohio State WR Trevon Grimes still home in Florida to deal with ‘personal issue’

Ohio State wide receiver Trevon Grimes is still at home in Florida dealing with a “personal issue,” Urban Meyer confirmed Wednesday night when he met with reporters.

Meyer added that Grimes will finish the semester at home through online classes. The Ohio State coach said he thinks Grimes will rejoin the Buckeyes next year.

Grimes, a freshman, has been away from Columbus for a month to support a sick family member in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Meyer cancelled a press conference in October to visit Grimes’ family.

“That’s one thing I think is really cool about our program and really cool about the relationship we have with our families,” Meyer said earlier in 2017. “We’re on speed dial. We’re not one of those where they have to set an appointment to meet with us. There’s a constant conversation.”

A key part of the 2016 Ohio State recruiting class, Grimes appeared in 2 games for the Buckeyes in 2017 after redshirting during the 2016 season. He made 3 catches for 20 yards in his 2 appearances during the 2017 season.
