Ohio State football is the No. 1 topic in Wake Up Sloopy every day — but we cover news, notes and analysis from across Buckeyes sports. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Ohio State football, recruiting, basketball and more.

College GameDay is coming to Columbus

For the fourth game in a row, Ohio State football will be joined by College GameDay. The popular pregame show will air from Columbus on Saturday as the Buckeyes take on Oklahoma.

GameDay was also present for the Buckeyes’ win against Indiana last Thursday as well as the Fiesta Bowl and Michigan game to end last season. This is the 40th time GameDay has been at an Ohio State game, the most of any program.

Eric Glover-Williams off the team

Eric Glover Williams is no longer a part of the Ohio State football team, a spokesman confirmed to Land of 10 on Saturday.

Glover-Williams did not travel to the Buckeyes’ game against Indiana. No reason was given for his departure, but his exit means one less potential playmaker at H-back.

Buckeyes top power poll

Ohio State dominated Land of 10’s first Big Ten power poll that was released Sunday.

The Buckeyes received 10 of 13 first-place votes to claim the No. 1 spot in the standings. I put the Buckeyes first on my ballot, which is explained here.

Former Buckeyes golfer regains PGA Tour card

Former Ohio State golfer Ryan Armour played on the PGA Tour in 2017 but wasn’t quite good enough to keep his card. That meant a trip to the Web.com Tour Finals, a four-tournament stretch where 25 PGA Tour cards for next year are issued.

Armour finished second at the first of those four tournaments on Sunday, which happened to be held at Ohio State’s home course. As a result, he’s already made enough money to guarantee he’ll finish in the top 25 of the four-tournament event. He’ll be back on the PGA Tour next year, looking to improve on the results of this year.

Scoreboard watching

Here’s how Ohio State teams fared over the weekend:

  • Women’s soccer beat South Florida 6-2 on Sunday.
  • Men’s golf placed last out of eight teams at the Carmel Cup on Sunday.
  • Women’s volleyball beat Lipscomb 3-0 and Oakland 3-1 on Saturday.
  • Women’s cross country was third of five teams at the Indiana Opener on Saturday.
  • Men’s cross country was fourth of five teams at the Indiana Opener on Saturday.
