Ohio State seniors Elijaah Goins and Zach Turnure earn scholarships

For a handful of football players around the country, dreams of making it to the NFL are on the forefront of their minds.

For others, just receiving a scholarship to play the game they love is enough to bring tears to their eyes.

At Ohio State this afternoon, after the team’s scrimmage, senior wide receiver Elijaah Goins and senior linebacker Zach Turnure were awarded with scholarships. The reactions from not only themselves, but their teammates and family members were simply heartwarming.

Goins is in his third year with the Buckeyes and moved positions this spring from safety to wide receiver. The 6-foot-1 pass-catcher walked on to the team in 2015 and was credited with seven tackles a season ago.

Turnure – a 6-foot-1 linebacker – walked on to join the Buckeyes in the fall of 2014. It is now his fourth year with the football team after originally being a member on the Ohio State lacrosse team.
