Ohio State remains in No. 1 spot of ESPN’s FPI rankings

The Buckeyes are atop one national ranking after the first week of 2017.

Ohio State is still No. 1 in ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) after Week 1. Urban Meyer’s team stayed ahead of Alabama, which beat Florida State on Saturday night. Ohio State will face Oklahoma, the No. 3 team in the FPI, next Saturday.

ESPN’s analytic rankings give Ohio State a 32.3 percent chance to finish the regular season undefeated and a 62.8 percent chance to win the conference. The Buckeyes are already 1-0 in conference play thanks to their 49-21 win over Indiana on Thursday night.

Wisconsin, ranked No. 7 in the FPI, is listed with a 27.9 percent chance to capture the Big Ten title, while Penn State (No. 6 in the rankings) and Michigan (No. 15) are listed with 7.6 percent and 1.4 percent chances to win the conference, respectively.
