Ohio State RB Mike Weber will be ready for Oklahoma game, Urban Meyer says

With some extra time off, Urban Meyer and Ohio State are back in game preparation mode for one of the biggest non-conference games of the year. The No. 2 Buckeyes host No. 7 Oklahoma on Saturday night (7:30 ET, ABC).

Meyer met with reporters Monday afternoon for the first time since his postgame press conference after beating Indiana, 49-21, in the Buckeyes’ 2017 season opener. Here are some of the things the Ohio State head coach had to say:

On running back Mike Weber, who missed the season opener with hamstring tightness:

“Mike Weber is going to be ready. Had a good practice today, went full speed.”

Weber was Ohio State’s starter last season and ran for 1,096 yards and nine touchdowns as a freshman. J.K. Dobbins started in his place against Indiana and went off for 181 yards on 29 carries.

On the Indiana win:

“It gave our corners some humbling… to beat a team 70-0 right now is not what we need.”

On facing a new Oklahoma head coach in Lincoln Riley:

“They have the same coordinators on both sides of the ball. I know Bob Stoops well, and I know why he did that. They’re going to carry on the culture well. It’s going to be the same Oklahoma team.”
