Ohio State struck first against Michigan State on Saturday, thanks to a career-best run from Mike Weber.

The Buckeyes running back found a big hole on 3rd-and-3, and Weber accelerated 47 yards to the end zone to put Ohio State up 7-0 in the first quarter.

It was the longest run of Weber’s career at Ohio State, and it was also the longest run the Spartans defense has allowed all season. Michigan State’s rushing defense entered the game ranked first in the Big Ten, allowing just 87.0 yards per game.

Weber, Ohio State’s leading rusher in 2016, has failed to reach the 47-yard mark in 4 of his 7 games this season. He’s split carries with freshman J.K. Dobbins in 2017, but neither tailback made much of a factor in last week’s 31-point loss at Iowa.

Earlier in the week, Urban Meyer hinted that the Buckeyes might try to use Weber and Dobbins at the same time against the Spartans.
