Ohio State looks set to keep churning out NFL talent

Welcome to another installment of  Wake Up Sloopy , Land of 10’s daily morning column covering Ohio State athletics with beat writer Ryan Ginn. Here’s a look at what you might have missed on Tuesday.

NFL has its eye on Ohio State

Ohio State has been on an incredible run in terms of cranking out NFL players, and that probably won’t stop anytime soon.

There were 14 NFL scouts at practice on Tuesday to watch the next wave of talent that will come out of Columbus. The Lions, Jaguars, Colts, Panthers, Bears, Falcons and Eagles were among the teams represented according to Ohio State football’s Twitter account.

Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller has five Buckeyes going in the first round of his recently released mock draft, and the scouts present would indicate he’s on to something.

O-line’s time to shine

Last season featured some rough moments for the Ohio State offensive line, but this year looks like it will be better.

My colleague Austin Ward wrote about their improvement and the praise that should be coming their way this fall.

Anthony Gonzalez for Congress?

Heads up, Northeast Ohio voters — there might be a former Buckeyes player on the ballot soon.

Former wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez is considering a 2018 run for the seat in Ohio’s 16th district. A source told Cleveland.com that Gonzalez is “seriously considering a run, and is close to making a decision.”

Current representative Jim Renacci isn’t seeking re-election because he plans to run for governor, so Gonzalez would be facing a wide-open field.
